Major construction players join national green group

Kingspan Potton, the UK’s leading manufacturer of energy efficient timber-based building systems, and SolarTech, a renewable technology supplier have both signed up as sponsors of nationwide sustainability initiative, SHIFT.SHIFT Index

The only initiative to provide a comprehensive environmental benchmark for affordable housing providers, Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow (SHIFT) counts the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), WWF, the Mayor of London and UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) among its supporters.

We are delighted to announce our involvement with SHIFT. Many of our clients are looking to reduce their impacts and we are proud to be associated with the benchmarking group for affordable housing providers.”

Shaun Taylor, Managing Director of SolarTech, added: “SolarTech are one of the largest installers of PV in the UK, as well as offering heat pumps, solar thermal, biomass and wind technology within our portfolio. This positions our company well to service all SHIFT partners especially as the Feed in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive become embedded in the sector. SHIFT is the comprehensive environmental benchmark for affordable housing providers. The SHIFT Index is administrated by Sustainable Homes. In addition to Kingspan Potton and SolarTech, sponsors include The Apollo Group, Diamond Build, H+H, Inside Housing, Mears and VPhase. Members are accredited on a scale of Bronze to Platinum. SHIFT was launched in 2008.   


The SHIFT Index was established with the support of the Homes and Communities Agency, Tenant Services Authority, UK Green Building Council, WWF UK and the Greater London Authority. These organisations continue to support and contribute to the development of the Index. Sustainable Homes acts as the secretariat for SHIFT Index and is the leading provider of sustainable housing training and consultancy in the UK.
