We all know we need to get retrofitting millions of homes. Do we have the skills? Recent government reports suggest that skills need to improve if we are to leave well ventilated, warm, healthy homes.
The recent Hansford review for Government shows that qualifications are essential to ensure retrofit is done well.
“With so many property archetypes existing, there is no single solution that would apply to all properties. To make matters worse, the building physics for some types of property is not widely nor perhaps fully understood. Sometimes incorrect solutions are applied, which can cause damp, mould or poor air quality.”
“I am of the view that a Retrofit Co-ordinator role is necessary to take responsibility for ensuring that a correctly designed and executed solution is delivered.”

Driving Up Standards, November 2015
