Andrew Eagles, Managing Director Sustainable Homes Limited, has been shortlisted in the Green Social Housing Champion of the Year category of The Sustainable Housing Awards 2010, organised by Inside Housing magazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing.
This awards scheme focuses on the best “green” social housing projects constructed in the UK, and the organisations responsible for them. The trophies will be presented at a suitably “eco” awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Friday 22nd October.
Sue Chalkley, Hastoe (Sustainable Homes' parent company) Chief Executive said: “We nominated Andrew for this award because of his passion for protecting our climate and his overriding concern to encourage the delivery of practical solutions. Andrew lives and breathes the Green Agenda, he has influenced the performance of housing associations with nearly 1 million homes – an incredible impact for one man. Andrew really cares about people and works tirelessly to help them make the connection that sustainable social housing means better and more affordable homes to live in.”
Ted Stevens, Inside Housing’s events director, and the organiser of the awards said: “We’ve had a terrific response, with hundreds of entries and Andrew has done brilliantly to get shortlisted from such a huge field. Britain is leading the way on sustainable housing and innovative building techniques so we’re delighted we’re able to organise a ceremony to reward organisations that are delivering best practice”.
Last year anchorman Jon Snow was the master of ceremonies. This year the comedian and climate change campaigner Marcus Brigstocke will be master of ceremonies”
